St.George Orthodox Church kadamattom
The church of Kadamattom is an indelible and undeniable symbol in the annals of Christian spirituality in Indian history. Mar Abo and Fr. Paulose alias Kadamattathu Kathanar are the two prominent religious icons who introduced Christian spirituality against the backdrop of untouchability which plagued India. The church of Kadamattom showers its blessings to all the devotees irrespective of caste, creed and colour. St. George Church Kadamattom is governed by Malankara Orthodox Church founded by Saint Thomas and is bound by the 1934 constitution of churches. The age old church founded by Mar Abo about 1600 years ago, the teacher mentor of Kadamattathu Kathanar, is a part of the diocese of Kandanad West which falls under the rule of Malankara Orthodox Church. The committee of fifteen members consisting of the Priests of the Church along with Trustees (Kaickaran) and Secretary elected from among the general body of the parishioners are managing the church affairs. The parishioners are divided into different family units in terms of zonal topography and regular prayer meetings are held on Monday at each family unit. Sunday school education up to the level of plus two is imparted under the guidance of able and well qualified teachers to the children for their spiritual growth. The M.G.O.S.C.M and Youth Organization are working effectively for both genders of youth. The Vanitha Samajam conducts retreats and bible classes on every Friday, evening prayer and bible classes are arranged for the male members on second Wednesday of every month. The Christian values which inspire everyone to attain spiritual enlightenment are instrumental to take initiative for charity activities. The charity activities undertaken by the parishioners extend a real helping hand to the sick and downtrodden in the society irrespective of their caste and creed to alleviate their pain and sorrow, thus fulfilling a Christian spirit of brotherhood.
